MODS

The most representatives topics of mods were music, fashion and scooters.
Mod boys wore clothes that seemed geometric, with rectiliniar lines, and the
track-suits were tidy. They liked Levi's 501 jeans, and their tipical shoes were
clarks, desert boots, beat boots, bowling shoes and loafers.
Mod girls wore short coats, and skirt track-suits. The colour of the clothes was
grey and black. They wore shoes like ‘’granny shoes’’ or label shoes like ‘’Fred
Peny’’ or similars.
Ties were the complements for boys, while foulards were the ones for girls.
The hairdresses of boys looked like the 1950's men, with lots of grease, and
girls wore smooth hair with fringe, like Liz Taylor in the film Marco Polo.
Mod people also adored motorbikes and clothes. They didn't like violence, and
loved to drink expensive beers in trendy bars.
They liked English groups like the Beatles, the Doors, etc, and melodic soul like
Marvin Gaye.

Grunges

Grunge is a subgenre of alternative pop which emerged during the mid-1980's in Seattle (Washington, United States). It's inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock, and became commercially successful in the beginning of the nineties. However, many bands were uncomfortable with this popularity and this type of music faded at the beginning of last decade; nevertheless their influence continues to impact modern rock music.
The fans of this style of music wear stripped T-shirts (red and black, green and black…) and sometimes they wear jeans, Scottish shirts and dark Converse shoes. The most representative groups of this style are Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sonic Youth and Soundgarden.
The people who belong to Grunge bands usually rebel against the consumerist society we're living in, and the fact that we are influenced by what television says. Finally, we have to mention that these groups are not violent.
